Art in the open 2012 - Quick Draw - for the charity

 "B&B"

I sold this painting on the spot for charity.

I began by observing how Leon Holmes begins his masterpiece..I only have less than 1 hour and 42 minutes to finish MY painting. Gotta run!

ps. I also watched him to finish this one.. Here is a real treat for you - VIDEO!!

Irish people are so easy going and it was a pure joy to just chat with everyone while painting.
As last year, I handed over the brushes to all the children that came across. And as last year, line formed super quickly!!

Here is Kevin testing out those Rosemary&Co´s long flat brushes.

Orchestra started to play so i had to interrupt the painting and take a few reference photos..

Graham Booth really can pull off beautifull watercolor paintings!

The "buzz" is on. I think the whole Wexford arrived on the main street.

Michael, I just love those soft figures!

2 hour limit is up, time to relax with a cup of coffee :)

 Rosa did a great job!

Lets sell some paintings for the charity!

Art In The Open 2012 - Hook Head

 "Ravine"
This painting, later on, would bring me a Highly commended award! :)

I had a great opportunity to see David Diaz begin a new landscape portrait.

 Lynn, David and Leon.
Leon Holmes, beating the living hell out of his canvas while producing a masterpiece!

The first breeze of atlantic wind in the morning..
Here I am just juding the third painting of the day within a distance.
Marc Dalessio painted incredible paintings during the week.
I had the priviledge to see him also paint in the Hook Head.

James had this sign that clearly is ment for commercial artist. :)

Nocturne

This small nocturne sketch was painted right next to the bridge of Wexford.

Earlier I painted this wonderful little park, but the painting itself was destroyed in the transportation. I have to repaint it soon.

Next we will be going to Hookhead to check out the lighthouse in there. Super cool!

Art in the open - Day 3

Here is the castle of Enniscorthy. I am looking forward to paint couple of more today.
Weather is great, food is fantastic and people are super polite and help artists in every turn. Specially those who forget their plastic bags at the hotel. :)

Wexford day 2

"Cat called Felix"

Lori painting one of her masterpieces! Man I just love that brushwork!

Leon Holmes beginning his landscape painting.

Mrs Diaz having a chat with Marc Dalessio.

I also had a chat with Marc Dalessio about panels and such.
Like they say, value does all the job and color gets all the credit.
I learned a lot just by waching this masterpiece to unfold.
Thanks Marc!

Karen, thank you so much for taking my painting safely to Spectrum for framing.

Rene on the right, is sharing similar hairstyle as I am!
Toni, thank you for the photo :)

It's been incredible!
We have been painting castles and other old and gorgeous buildings and landscapes all day.
I got 4 paintings under my belt today and tomorrow we a heading for the nearby town.

The interpreter

"The interpreter"
65 x 50 cm, oil on linen canvas

This was a fun, metallic surface, painting sketch.
This is actually my second Star Wars themed painting. This one was also created with very large brushes.

"Old bakery"
35 x 27 cm, oil on panel
2012

Yesterday I had the priviledge to spend the whole morning painting this wonderful landscape.
My friend Mauri was there right next to me painting and also giving me a slap when i was doing some obvious mistakes :)

Old fence

"Old fence"
Oil on panel, 2012

It was a warm, sunny day today. This old and worn out fence was so delightfully covered and fully integrated to the flora that I just had to paint it.

Bath

"Bath"
54 x 60 cm
Oil on triple primed linen canvas
2012

I just loved to paint this!
I tried to get that flow of the water in there by doing some super fast strokes (hopefully accurate anyways).
Most of this, like the background, is painted with a very large brush in a very short time like in 5 minutes or so.  :)
Painting the figure itself took a quite a few hours and a lot more delicate approach with the Rosemary&Co´s super brushes. Some of those colors are put straight from the tube on canvas, like reds and ochres, just to push the saturation.
I been blurring the edges and reconstructing them back to sharp ones.. like 7 hours without any breaks or interruptions. Whee, just for the edges! Its so important to me to get em right :)
Well anyways, I hope it looks loose and accurate at the same time. It was a great adventure for me and I learned a lot.
