Still life´s

Here is a couple of still life´s that i painted on birch panels.
I was more fun to do a series of these, just to really study the subtle color/value shifts these translucent surfaces have.
Last one of these is a bit more simplified version and I am looking forward to incorporate more of that style to tomorrows pleinair session. :)

Horse stables - gallery edition

"Horse stables"
65 x 35 cm
Oil on linen canvas

I felt that the pleinair painting I painted from this building, yesterday, was a bit too small in size and I wanted a bit more horizontal space to really show this beautiful old building for you.
I also added some details that i did not include in the first version.
There is also a challenge to not to over work a new versio. Thats why i painted the same way that i painted in the landscape. Please check out the previous post for the work n progress shots.
Colors and the values are also identical to the original sketch.

Summer garden

"Summer garden"
27x33 cm
Oil on birch panel

I testes out couple of these birch panels made out of veneer and I have to say they are highly durable and can take pretty much any weather conditions.
Surface was first varnished to give it brownish color and then sanded lightly to make it smooth and to remove the texture.
