These birch panels look fantastic! The fact that you use it's pattern to be part of your painting is very interesting.

These are all incredible! How did you prepare that first panel? I love it.

I squeezed a bit of burn umber on the panel and poured some dammar varnish on it and just rubbed in it with a cloth.
I usually make several of them in the same time, because it takes a day or two for them to dry out and the dammar varnish smells horrible :)
Basically any brown/reddish/ochre color will do, i would prefer transparent oxide red.
love it especially the magic forrest, ... scary somehow.
